Our History

Once organized an unofficial football tournament during break time in 1962. On the suggestion of late Hon. Lorry Sant, the 1st Committee for the Government and Parastatal Football League was formed in 1976. The meeting with the HoD to present his vision began with a football league in which 28 teams competed. The first game between the AFM 1st Regt and the Ministry of Development took place on January 29, 1977, at the St.Lucia Ground. Major P.P. Ripard was the first Chairman of the GPFL. Under the presidency of Mr. Tony Formosa, a new structure was developed in 1987 that covers more sports activities as the Government & Parastatal Sports Association. Throughout the years, the logo has been modified three times.

The name of the association was changed to Malta Employees Sports Association in 2003 after several entities were privatized.
